Tarping a flatbed and securing a load both put someone on top of the trailer, and the fall exposure is the same as at a tanker hatch even though the vehicle is not a tank. GREEN flatbed access platforms put a guarded walkway alongside the trailer so that work happens from a protected deck. S&S Technical supplies them as part of the GREEN access and fall-protection range.

Why order your flatbed platform through S&S Technical
Flatbed loading is usually one part of a larger site. S&S Technical is a single point of contact for GREEN access across the whole operation: the same team specifies flatbed platforms alongside truck and railcar access and the truck loading systems and railcar loading and unloading systems they serve, and quotes and supports them together.
How they work
- A guarded walkway runs alongside the trailer, giving a protected position for tarping or securing the load.
- The roll-track design lets the platform be moved in and out to suit different trailer widths, which also makes spotting the trailer easier for the driver.
- Lightweight aluminium construction keeps the platform easy to roll, with powered operation available for single-person use.
- Built to your specification. Length and height are set by the trailers and the bay, not by a catalogue size.
Options
- Can be combined with double-access platforms for extended access options
- Self-closing swing gate at the access point
- Aluminium, grey enamel or safety yellow, and custom finishes
What decides the specification
- Trailer lengths and the range of widths the platform has to cover
- Deck height, and whether loads regularly sit above it
- Whether one side is enough or both sides need access
- The surface the platform rolls on, and how far it has to travel
- Bay dimensions and any overhead clearance
- Finish required
Common questions
Does the trailer have to be spotted precisely?
No, and that is the point of the roll-track. The platform moves to the trailer, so the driver is not trying to place the trailer to a fixed structure.
Can one platform serve trailers of different widths?
Yes, within the travel the track is built for. Tell us the widest and narrowest trailers you handle and the travel is sized for both.
Is this an alternative to a horizontal lifeline?
They solve the problem differently. A platform keeps the operator on a guarded deck; a lifeline protects them while they are on the load itself. Sites that tarp regularly often end up with both.
