S&S Technical supplies GREEN G-Raff elevating platforms, a patented design that has provided fall protection on tank and bulk vehicles since 1983. The platform elevates to the vehicle rather than requiring the vehicle to present at a fixed height, which is what makes it the answer where no two tankers arrive the same.

Which model series fits?
- M-5. For tank and bulk trucks, with self-adjusting stairs giving access to the platform top.
- M-26. Covers several working positions along the vehicle from one structure, under a patent GREEN has held since 1983.
- HC series. A patented elevating railing system for continuous fall protection on hopper cars.
- TR series. The same elevating railing principle configured for tank trucks.
- RTT series. Retrofits to an existing truck loading platform, which makes it the route to replacing manual gangways without rebuilding the rack. Coverage is specified per application, from one manhole up to the whole length of the trailer.
How it works
The platform is self-supporting and elevates as a level working surface with its own railing enclosure, using machine screw actuation. The HC and TR series pair a stationary platform and access stairway with an elevating railing enclosure. Because the working surface stays level through its travel, the operator’s footing does not change with vehicle height.
Features
- Self-supporting, level elevating work platform with railing enclosure
- Able to support loading arms
- Available with a range of custom safety enclosures
- Rugged steel construction, top-coated to specification
- Meets or exceeds OSHA requirements
- Custom-engineered configurations available
What decides the specification
- Vehicle type: tank truck, bulk truck, tank car or hopper car
- The height range the platform must cover
- Number of top ports worked and their spacing
- Whether this is a new installation or a retrofit to an existing platform
- Whether loading arms are carried by the platform
- Enclosure requirements
Common questions
What does elevating actually solve?
Vehicle height variation. A fixed gangway has a working range; outside it, access is either unsafe or impossible. An elevating platform adjusts to the vehicle instead, which matters most on mixed fleets.
Can I add this to a platform I already have?
Yes, that is what the RTT series is for. Fits onto a platform that is already standing, which is why it usually comes up where manual gangways are being taken out rather than on a new build.
Is it suitable for hopper cars?
The HC series is designed specifically for continuous fall protection on hopper cars.
