For facilities with several access points, or vehicles that never stop in the same place, a fixed structure at every position is rarely practical. A portable platform takes protected access to wherever the work is.
S&S Technical supplies the GREEN PAL-100 portable access platform, a self-supporting wheeled unit that puts the operator on a guarded deck at the top of a tank or bulk truck without a fixed structure. It is counterweighted, so it stands on its own rather than leaning on the vehicle, which is the distinction that matters when comparing it with a simple ladder.
Why order your PAL-100 through S&S Technical
Portable access is the answer where a permanent rack is not practical or vehicles never stop in the same place. S&S Technical can tell you when that stops being true: we design and build fixed truck loading systems, skid-mounted loading systems and portable truck and railcar transloaders, so we compare a portable platform with the alternatives for your site instead of selling one answer.

Where a portable unit is the right answer
- The access position moves. Yard loading, overflow bays, or vehicles worked wherever there is space.
- A permanent platform is not practical. No foundation, leased ground, or a bay that will be reconfigured.
- Occasional access. Maintenance, sampling or intermittent loading that does not justify a rack.
- Space is constrained. A wheeled unit can be stored clear and brought out when needed.
What decides the specification
- Vehicle type, and the height of the access point above grade
- The height range the deck has to reach across the vehicles you run
- How many positions it will be moved between, and how far apart they are
- The surface it is wheeled over, and any gradient or threshold on the route
- Whether a safety cage or enclosure is needed at the hatch
- Where it is stored when not in use, and any doorway or clearance it must pass through
Common questions
Does it need the truck to support it?
No. The PAL-100 is counterweighted and self-supporting, with adjustable outriggers. Rubber bumpers prevent direct contact with the vehicle rather than transferring load to it.
What height range does it cover?
9 ft to 13 ft, adjustable. Confirm unit dimensions against your vehicles before ordering, since the useful range depends on where the hatch sits.
How is this different from a removable platform?
A Removable Insta-Rack is a pedestal platform installed without a foundation and left in position. A portable unit is moved by an operator during normal work.
