S&S Technical supplies GREEN tank truck loading platforms and access racks for bays that are worked every day. The platforms are heavy-duty modular structures, engineered for operator safety and built around how your trucks actually present at the rack rather than a standard footprint. Single or multiple hatch, canopied or open, with the gangway mounting chosen to suit how consistently your trucks spot at the bay.

Which configuration fits?
- Single hatch. One access position, one gangway. Where the truck spots reliably, this is the smallest structure that does the job. A pedestal platform is often the better answer at this scale.
- Multiple hatch. A platform running the length of the trailer, with one or more gangways serving several hatches from the same walkway.
- Slide-track access. The gangway traverses along the platform, so the operator meets the hatch rather than the driver repositioning the truck.
- Integrated with loading equipment. Platforms can be built to carry loading arms and pumping stations where the bay does more than provide access.
Access options
- Self-levelling stair gangways, including the Elite Series
- Flat ramp and telescoping ramp gangways
- Custom-designed safety cages and enclosures at the hatch
- Slide-track, pivot or static gangway mounting
- Hot-dipped galvanised, red oxide primer, grey enamel or safety yellow, with custom coatings available
What decides the specification
- Trailer type and deck height, and the spread across your fleet
- Number of hatches worked and their positions along the trailer
- Number of bays and whether they are covered
- Whether the truck spots in the same position every time
- Canopy height and any adjacent equipment that constrains the structure
- Whether loading arms or pumping equipment mount to the platform
Common questions
Do I need a full platform or a pedestal?
If one hatch is worked and the truck spots consistently, a pedestal platform is a smaller footprint and a simpler foundation. A full platform earns its cost when several hatches are worked or trailer positions vary.
Can the platform be installed without shutting the bay for long?
The platforms are modular, which is what makes installation predictable. The practical constraint is usually foundation work rather than the structure itself, so it is worth raising site conditions early.
Does this cover the complete loading system?
No. These pages cover access and fall protection. If you need the loading arms, metering and controls as an integrated system, see S&S Technical’s VerssaLoad truck and railcar loading platforms.
