Tank Truck Access & Fall Protection

Safe tank truck access requires more than a gangway. Vehicle heights, hatch locations, loading connections and operating procedures all influence the right equipment selection. Which solution fits?

• A fixed bay, used every day. A permanent loading platform or access rack with a self-levelling gangway gives repeatable access and the widest working range.
• One hatch, one position. A pedestal platform is a smaller footprint and a simpler foundation than a full rack.
• No foundation, or the position moves. A removable pedestal or a portable access platform gives you access without pouring concrete.
• Varying trailer heights. An elevating platform adjusts to the vehicle rather than the other way round.

What decides the specification

• Trailer type and deck height, and how much they vary across your fleet
• Hatch position and how many hatches are worked
• Whether the truck spots in the same place every time
• Fixed or portable, and whether a foundation is practical
• Whether a safety cage or enclosure is needed at the hatch
• Site constraints: canopy height, adjacent equipment, traffic routes
