How CO₂ Is Captured, Stored, and Delivered
Understanding the flow of carbon from capture to distribution is critical. Here’s how it works – and where S&S fits in:
Step 1: Capture
CO₂ is separated from industrial emissions at power plants, refineries, ethanol plants, or chemical facilities using:
- Amine-based scrubbing systems
- Cryogenic separation units
- Membrane or adsorption technologies
Step 2: Compression & Storage
Once captured, CO₂ is compressed into a liquid or supercritical state and stored in:
- Bulk tanks (for truck or railcar loading)
- Intermediate pressure vessels
- Pipeline-ready surge tanks
Step 3: Transfer via Truck, Rail, or Pipeline
S&S Technical’s skid-mounted systems are used to:
- Load liquid CO₂ into pressurized tank trucks or railcars
- Offload from trucks to storage or process equipment
- Boost and meter flow into pipeline networks for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) or geological storage
