Mobile Gasoline Transload Unit Retrofit – S&S was asked to help a site in Texas rework one of their older S&S transload units that had been sitting idle for several years, to help get the operation up and running for a new contract while two new units were in fabrication.
The old unit was shipped back, and all equipment tested to determine what parts may need to be serviced or replaced. A new rail access platform with gangway and safety cage was designed and built to fit on the old unit’s trailer to help provide a safe way to access rail car tops for connection of the vapor balance line. The pump was sent to our S&S Bowling Green, KY Blackmer parts/service center for a complete overhaul and new paint. All piping, valves, trailer were repainted, and a full wet test run of the unit was performed at the factory to ensure all mechanical and electrical equipment worked before shipment. A Dearman system with Wi-Fi connectivity was added as part of new scope needed to work with the sites new automation plans for BOL ticketing and inventory management. An S&S tech is on site this week doing meter proving/startup of the retrofit unit.
